Human Resources :
Monsignor Michael Azzopardi, Id-Dar Tal-Providenza’s founder, recognised that “Kind hearts and infinite patients are not enough” The impaired deserve to be nurtured by people who possess the special skills and aptitudes necessary to direct the various stages of development of those in their care.
People who make it their life’s work to care for the impaired do so primarily because they believe in their heart-of-hearts that the skills they have to offer will improve the quality of life of those they are caring for. Id-Dar Tal-Providenza is a living example of that faith and dedication.

Because our residents need twenty-four, seven-days-a-week care a complement of some 245 staffably assisted by 120 plus volunteers are required. This type of work calls for deeply committed, loving, caring people – those who gain personal satisfaction for helping others.
Employed Staff
Broadly speaking, 70% of the employed workforce has the responsibility for caring for our residents- attending to all of their personal needs throughout each day and night.
The balance of our staff is either the Habilitation or Ancillary sectors.
Id-Dar Tal-Providenza’s team of Ability Promoters, Psysiotherapists, Communication Therapists and the Podologist working within the Habilitation Centre together with the Recreational Activity Group, strive daily to develop the most up-to-date tried-and-tested techniques, specialist equipment in the gymnasium, hydrotherapy and a programme of activities which take place both inside and outside the Charity’s confines.
The Ancillary sector embraces all of the services required to enable the smooth running of Id-Dar Tal-Providenza including administration, laundary and kitchen, maintenance, security, reception, stores, seamstresses and drivers.
Volunteers
We are very much appreciative of our committed volunteers, who so selflessly give up some of their spare time to help us to care for our residents.
Every sector of our organisation has its complement of volunteer workers. We at Id-Dar Tal-Providenza realise they all have daily commitments to their own families and places of worl- to that end we make every effort to accommodate the hours and days they choose to work with us.
Occasionally a factory will give a group of its staff the day off so they can devote the time to helping out with special projects at Id-Dar Tal-Providenza.
Training
All Care-workers attend comprehensive induction and first-aid courses and groups also attend university courses and, when the opportunity arises, specialised courses abroad. This is all part of an on-going educational programme designed to develop their skills and keep them appraised of the latest methods of ‘caring’ for their charges.
You can make a difference!
Volunteers are always welcome. If you would like to help and make a difference to someone’s life why don’t you give us a call or pick up a form from our reception and tell us what would you like to do?
Our commitment to nurture those in our care … is set in stone.
