Id-Dar tal-Providenza commemorates its 60th anniversary

Id-Dar tal-Providenza will be commemorating the 60th anniversary of its founding by Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi as well as the International Day for Persons with Disability with a vocal and instrumental concert on Friday, 28th November 2025 at 7:30pm at the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Paul in Mdina.

The concert, under the distinguished patronage of H.E. the President of Malta, Dr Myriam Spiteri Debono and the Auxiliary Bishop, Mgr Joseph Galea-Curmi, will be performed by the Band of the Armed Forces of Malta under the baton of its Musical Director, Major Jonathan Borg. For the occasion of the Home’s 60th anniversary two musical works were composed and will be played for the very first time:  60 Sena ta’ Storja: Id-Dar tal-Providenza by Mro Nicholas Vella and Tama by Mro Antoine Mercieca. The programme will also include works by  Johann Sebastian Bach, Richard Wagner, Frank Erickson, Lowell Mason, Morten Lauridsen, Peter A. Yon, Stephen Adams, Carl Coberg and Maltese composer Tano Monseigneur.

The winner/s of the Mons. Mikiel Azzopardi Award for this year will also be announced during the course of the evening. The Award recognises the work done by individuals as well as groups in helping out persons with disability.
