RTK103 listeners enjoy a barbecue in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza

In a festive evening of community and charity, over 200 listeners of RTK103 gathered for a barbecue in aid of Dar tal-Providenza on Friday 12th September, the day when it was celebrating its 60th anniversary of its founding by Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi. The event also served as the launch platform for the station’s new schedule.

Attendees enjoyed a summer barbecue held on the terrace of Dar tal-Providenza in Siggiewi under a beautiful sunset while meeting popular RTK103 presenters, including Christine Delicata, Gabriel Lia, Lizzie Cutajar, and George Galea. Popular singer Mike Spiteri was among those who kept the crowd entertained.

Amanda Ciappara, head of programmes at RTK103, thanked the station’s listeners and supporters and underlined the strength of community unity in helping Dar tal-Providenza to continue its mission.

Kevin Papagiorcopulo, CEO of Beacon Media Group, echoed the sentiment, describing RTK103 as “a voice of the Christian ethos” that continually renews itself to provide educational, entertaining, and informative content.

The event also paid tribute to the vision of Mons. Mikiel Azzopardi, who first shared his humanitarian idea of opening a home for persons with disabilities on a radio programme.

Mgr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, thanked the station for its continued support. The evening included musical performances and a joyful atmosphere, with all proceeds going directly to the home.

Currently, Dar tal-Providenza operates three residences and four community homes, providing care for 115 persons with disabilities and offering regular respite services to their families.
