Over a €1,000 were raised during Swieqi Fest in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza.This sporting event, organised by the Swieqi Local Council, consisted of a 5-kilometre run that started and finished near the Tal-Ibraġ church. There was also a Fun Run for kids that was a bit longer than one kilometre.

At the end of the activity, the Swieqi Mayor, Mr Noel Muscat said that this ninth edition of Swieqi Fest was another success. This year, participants were asked to make a donation towards Id-Dar tal-Providenza. He added that for Swieqi this was an important event because it gets together people from all over Malta who together with the locals could take part in a sportive and philantropic activity. Mr Muscat insisted that sport is very important for a person’s health factor as well as a means for unity and solidarity. He thanked all the participants, all volunteers, the Swieqi parish priest Fr Tony Agius and all those who helped towards the event’s success. This year’s huge turnout surely augured well for the future.

Present for this activity was Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, who thanked the Local Council and all those who took part.
