€7,300 raised during Kalkara Festa Futbol in aid of id-Dar tal-Providenza

A total of €7,300 was raised during Kalkara Festa Futbol on September 16th in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. Last year, which was the first time this activity was organised, over €5,000 were collected.

Around sixty players took part in this Festa Futbol. They were mostly ex-footballers from Kalkara, forty years of age and over. Amongst them were ex-National team players as well as those who played for well known Maltese clubs. All players who took part donated €10 towards Id-Dar tal-Providenza. They were formed into four teams that competed in a tournament for which a sizeable crowd was in attendance.

Special guest for the event was Archbishop Emeritus, Mgr Pawl Cremona whilst Parliamentarians from the electoral district also attended.

The committee members of the Kalkara Boys Over 40 deserve to be congratulated for organising this Festa Futbol for which they have been preparing for months. Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, praised this initiative that couples the values of sport and solidarity. He thanked the organisers, the players who took part, the sponsors, those who attended and all those who made a donation.

€7,300 inġabru mill-Festa Futbol li saret fil-Kalkara fis-16 ta’ Settembru b’risq id-Dar tal-Providenza. Is-sena l-oħra, li kienet l-ewwel darba li saret din l-attività, is-somma kienet qabżet il-€5,000.

F’din il-Festa Futbol ħadu sehem madwar sittin plejer fil-parti ‘l kbira irġiel Kalkariżi ‘l fuq minn erbgħin sena, fosthom ex-plejers tat-tim nazzjonali kif ukoll ta’ diversi timijiet magħrufa Maltin. Il-plejers kollha li ħadu sehem taw €10 għad-Dar tal-Providenza. Il-plejers inqasmu f’erba’ timijiet u kkompetew f’turnament li għalih attendiet folla numeruża fil-grawnd tal-Kalkara.

Mistieden speċjali għal din l-okkażjoni kien l-Arċisqof Emeritus Mons. Pawlu Cremona waqt li attendew ukoll il-Membri Parlamentari tad-Distrett.

Il-membri tal-kumitat tal-Kalkara Boys Over 40 ħaqqhom kull tifħir għall-organizzazjoni ta’ din il-Festa Futbol li ilhom jaħdmu fuqha xhur sħaħ. Fr Martin Micallef, id-Direttur tad-Dar tal-Providenza, faħħar din l-inizjattiva li tgħaqqad il-valuri tal-isport u tas-solidarjetà. Huwa rringrazzja lill-organizzaturi, il-plejers li ħadu sehem, l-isponsors, lil dawk li attendew u lil dawk kollha li għamlu donazzjoni.

Tliet residenti tad-Dar tal-Providenza f’pellegrinaġġ f’Lourdes

Tliet residenti tad-Dar tal-Providenza ħadu sehem fil-pellegrinaġġ annwali f’Lourdes għall-morda organizzat mill-Assoċjazzjoni Volontarji Lourdes. Il-pellegrinaġġ sar bejn l-1 u l-4 ta’ Settembru. 168persuna ħadu sehem f’dan il-pellegrinaġġ fosthom 50 persuna morda.   Grupp sabiħ ta’ żgħażagħ mill-grupp Mellieħa Youths għal darba oħra ingħaqdu mal-Assoċjazzjoni biex jgħinu bħala voluntiera. 

Il-grupp Malti ħa sehem fil-funzjonijiet li jiġu organizzati f’Lourdes fosthom il-Quddiesa Internazzjonali fil-Bazilika ta’ San Piju X, l-Adorazzjoni Ewkaristika li tinżamm fl-istess post u l-Aux Flambeaux. 

Saret quddiesa bil-Malti mmexxija mill-kappillan tal-Assoċjazzjoni, Patri Josè Debono O.C.D. fil-Grotta ta’ Massabielle fejn fl-1856 il-Madonna kienet dehret liċ-ċkejkna Bernadette Soubirous.

Il-President tal-Assoċjazzjoni, Ms Amata Camilleri qalet li din is-sena itellgħu numru sabiħ ta’ tfal, kif ukoll numru ta’ morda li jkollok ċertu riskju li toħodhom bil-għajnuna ta’ team mediku, bil-ħafna mħabba tal-voluntiera u bil-għajnuna tal-Madonna inwassluhom biex jirrealizzaw ix-xewqa tagħhom li jmorru Lourdes. 

L-Assoċjazzjoni Volontarji Lourdes twaqqfet fl-2001 bil-għan li tassisti morda li jkunu jixtiequ jagħmlu pellegrinaġġ ġewwa Lourdes.

Three Dar tal-Providenza residents in Lourdes Pilgrimage

Three Dar tal-Providenza residents  were part of the annual Lourdes pilgrimage for the sick organised by the Assoċjazzjoni Volontarji Lourdes. The pilgrimage took place between the 1st and 4th of September. 168 persons were in Lourdes including 50 ailing persons. A sizeable group of youths from the Mellieħa Youth Group once again joined the Association to help as volunteers.

The Maltese group took part in the religious functions organised in Lourdes including the International Mass in the St Pius X Basilica, the Eucharistic Adoration in the same location and the Aux Flambeau.

A Mass in Maltese was held in the Grotto of Massabielle where Our Lady appeared to Bernadette Soubirous in 1856. The celebrant was Fr Josè Debono O.C.D, Chaplain of the Association.

The President of the Association, Ms Amata Camilleri said that this year an appreciable number of children were taken with the group as well as a number of sick persons that were accompanied by a medical team. With the help and love of the volunteers and of Our Lady they were able to realise their dream to make it to Lourdes.

The Assoċjazzjoni Volontarji Lourdes was founded in 2001 with the specific aim to assist ailing persons who wished to make a pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Festa ta’ Futbol fil-Kalkara b’risq id-Dar tal-Providenza

Nhar il-Ġimgħa, 16 ta’ Settembru, mis-6.00 ta’ filgħaxija ‘l quddiem kulħadd għal Kalkara għal Festa Futbol li se ssir fil-grawnd tal-Kalkara b’risq id-Dar tal-Providenza. Dan tħabbar waqt konferenza tal-aħbarijiet li ġiet indirizzata fost oħrajn mis-Sinjuri Alex Farrugia u Martin Meilaq, żewġ membri tal-kumitat organizzattiv, u Fr Martin Micallef, Direttur tad-Dar. Kienu preżenti wkoll għadd ta’ ex-plejers Kalkariżi.

F’din il-Festa Futbol se jieħdu sehem irġiel Kalkariżi ‘l fuq minn erbgħin sena, fosthom ex-plejers tat-tim nazzjonali kif ukoll ta’ diversi timijiet magħrufa Maltin. Il-plejers kollha li se jieħdu sehem se jagħtu €10 għad-Dar tal-Providenza. Bħala mistieden speċjali għal din l-okkażjoni ser jattendi l-Arċisqof Emeritus Mons. Pawlu Cremona. Dawk kollha li għandhom għal qalbhom Id-Dar tal-Providenza u jixtiequ jagħmlu d-donazzjoni tagħhom huma mistiedna jattendu u jżuru l-grawnd tal-Kalkara FC fejn mistennija jkun hemm taħlita interessanti ta’ futbol u divertiment. Wieħed jista’ jagħti donazzjoni wkoll fil-kont bankarju mal-Bank of Valletta 40018703841.

Il-kumitat tal-Kalkara Boys Over 40 ilu jaħdem xhur fuq din l-inizjattiva u jinsab ċert li se terġa’ tkun suċċess kbir bħalma kienet is-sena li għaddiet. Huwa apprezzat ħafna l-appoġġ tal-midja sportiva Maltija għal din l-attività li matulha se jkunu qegħdin jiltaqgħu diversi ġenerazzjonijiet ta’ plejers Kalkariżi li tul iż-żmien żejnu l-logħba Maltija, apparti minn parteċipanti oħra li xi darba jew oħra kellhom sehem fil-klabb u t-tim tal-villaġġ pittoresk tal-Kalkara.

Fr Martin Micallef irringrazzja lill-organizzaturi, il-plejers li se jieħdu sehem, l-isponsors u lil dawk li se jattendu fil-grawnd tal-Kalkara fit-16 ta’ Settembru u se jagħmlu d-donazzjoni tagħhom b’risq id-Dar tal-Providenza. Is-sena l-oħra, li kienet l-ewwel darba li saret din l-attività, inġabru aktar minn €5,000.

Kalkara Football Feast in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza

All roads will lead to Kalkara on Friday, 16th September from 6.00pm onwards for the Futbol Festa being organised at the Kalkara football ground in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. Details were given during a press conference by Mr Alex Farrugia and Mr Martin Meilaq, two members of the organising committee, and Fr Martin Micallef, Director of the Home who were amongst the speakers. Also present were some ex-players from Kalkara.

Taking part in this Futbol Festa will be a good number of Kalkara over-40-year-olds, including several ex-national team players who over the years played for some of the top Maltese clubs. All players taking part will be donating €10 towards Id-Dar tal-Providenza. Special guest for this occasion will be Archbishop Emeritus Mgr Paul Cremona.

All those who would like to make their donations are invited to attend this activity that is expected to provide an evening of football and entertainment. Donations may also be made through BOV Account number 40018703841.

The Kalkara Boys Over 40 Committee has been working very hard during the past months for the success of this activity and they are sure that with everybody’s help this activity will be a great show of solidarity for Id-Dar tal-Providenza. They appreciate the support of the Maltese sports media for this activity which will see the gathering of several generations of Kalkara players who at different times have been protagonists in Maltese football, as well as other participants who at some time or another had a connection with the club and team of the picturesque village of Kalkara.

Fr Martin Micallef thanked the organisers, the players taking part, the sponsors as well as all those who will be present at the Kalkara football ground on 16th September and will be making their donations towards Id-Dar tal-Providenza. Last year more than €5000 were collected.
