€5,200 raised from ‘Walk – Cycle – Run’ activity in aid of id-Dar tal-Providenza

€5,200 were raised during the third edition of a “Walk – Cycle – Run” event that took place on Sunday 16th October 2016 in aid of id-Dar tal-Providenza. For the second year, around three hundred bikers joined those who walked, ran and cycled in this activity organised by the Gudja Youth Group with the support of RTK4 Charity.

The walk started off from the Parish square in Siġġiewi with the participation of the President of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, members of Parliament from both sides of the House, representatives of Alternattiva Demokratika and members of the public.

The cyclists left from the Cathedral square in Mdina whilst the runners took off from the Parish square in Żurrieq. The bikers gathered and left from Victory Square in Birgru. The four groups proceeded towards the parking lot of Id-Dar tal-Providenza where a Eucharistic Celebration took place led by Vicar General, Mgr. Joe Galea Curmi.

€5,200 inġabru fit-tielet edizzjoni tal-“Mixja, Qadfa, Ġirja” li saret il-Ħadd 16 ta’ Ottubru b’risq id-Dar tal-Providenza. Bħas-sena l-oħra ħadu sehem ukoll madwar tliet mitt sewwieq tal-muturi li ingħaqdu ma’ dawk li mxew, ġrew u qadfu. L-attività kienet organizzata mill-Grupp Żgħażagħ Gudja, bl-appoġġ ta’ RTK4Charity.

Fil-mixja li bdiet mill-pjazza tas-Siġġiewi ħadu sehem il-President ta’ Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, Ministri, Segretarji Parlamentari u membri tal-Parlament miż-żewġ naħat tal-Kamra, rappreżentant tal-Alternattiva Demokratika u membri tal-pubbliku.

Is-sewwieqa tal-muturi telqu minn Misraħ ir-Rebħa fil-Birgu, dawk tar-roti telqu mill-pjazza tal-Katidral tal-Imdina waqt li dawk li ħadu sehem fil-ġirja telqu minn quddiem il-knisja parrokkjali taż-Żurrieq. L-erba’ gruppi baqgħu sejrin fi triqthom lejn il-parkeġġ tad-Dar tal-Providenza fejn saret quddiesa iċċelebrata mill-Vigarju Ġenerali, Mons. Joe Galea Curmi.

The Portico Project at Id-Dar tal-Providenza features in a new book on Contemporay Architecture in Malta

The Portico Project at Id-Dar tal-Providenza — now Misraħ San Giovanni XXIII – designed by architects Galea&Galea, is one of fifteen projects spotlighted in a new book on contemporary architecture in Malta.

The launching of the “Contemporary Architecture in Malta” by Prof. Conrad Thake took place on Tuesday, 4th October 2016, at the Chamber of the Parliament Buildings presided by the Hon. Dr Anġlu Farrugia, Speaker of the House of Representatives. Publication is by the Kite Group.

‘Contemporary Architecture in Malta’ features a detailed exposition of the fifteen projects, ranging from private residences, public commercial and office buildings, military and infrastructural projects to a meditation chapel set within a contemplative semi-private garden complex.

Each project is well documented, through extensive photography and architectural drawings. Conrad Thake, provides the reader with a lucid appraisal and analysis of each project.

Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza and Architects Audrey and Anthony Galea were present for the book launch.

Il-Proġett tal-Portiku fid-Dar tal-Providenza li sar Misraħ San Giovanni XXIII, iddisinjat mill-periti Galea&Galea, huwa wieħed minn ħmistax-il proġett ippreżentat fi ktieb ġdid dwar Arkitettura Kontemporanja f’Malta.

Il-preżentazzjoni tal-ktieb “Contemporary Architecture in Malta” mill-Prof. Conrad Thake saret nhar it-Tlieta, 4 ta’ Ottubru 2016, fil-Kamra ewlenija tal-Bini tal-Parlament ippreseduta mill-Onor. Dr Anġlu Farrugia, Speaker tal-Kamra tar-Rappreżentanti. Il-pubblikazzjoni saret mill-Kite Group.

“Contemporary Architecture in Malta” fih preżentazzjoni dettaljata tal-ħmistax-il proġett li jittratta, minn residenzi privati u binjiet kummerċjali u uffiċini sa proġetti militari u infrastrutturali u kappella għall-meditazzjoni f’kumpless ta’ ġnien kontemplattiv semi-privat.

Kull proġett huwa dokumentat tajjeb ħafna b’fotografija estensiva u disinji arkitettoniċi. Conrad Thake jagħti opportunità lill-qarrej biex jagħmel apprezzament u analiżi ċarissima ta’ kull proġett.

2017 Dar tal-Providenza Diary on its way to all households

The pocket diary of Id-Dar tal-Providenza for 2017 is currently being distributed in every household in Malta and Gozo.
This diary, with its information that is useful throughout the whole year, provides an opportunity for a show of solidarity with the Home that offers residency with the right environment to one hundred and nine persons with disability so that they can foster their personal growth. Over the past few weeks many volunteers from all walks of life gave a helping hand to pack these diaries in special envelopes. As in previous years, the diary includes the very useful timetable for daily and Sunday masses in all churches in Malta and Gozo and a detailed calendar. A list highlighting all the parish feasts in these islands for 2017 is also included.

The coloured photo on the cover brings back the memorable visit to Rome by residents, carers, Sisters of Charity, administration and volunteers together with Archbishop Mgr Charles J. Scicluna and Archbishop Emeritus Mgr Pawl Cremona OP. On the 13th of September 2015, they had a special meeting outside Santa Marta with H.H. Pope Francis on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Id-Dar tal-Providenza by Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi on 12th September 1965.

Id-Djarju tad-Dar tal-Providenza għas-sena 2017 beda jitqassam f’kull dar ta’ Malta u Għawdex. Permezz ta’ dan id-djarju, li bit-tagħrif li fih jibqa’ jintuża s-sena kollha, is-sostenituri ikollhom l-opportunità li juru s-solidarjetà tagħhom mad-Dar li toffri residenza lil mija u disa’ persuni b’diżabilità bl-aħjar ambjent li jgħin fl-iżvilupp tagħhom.
